		<abstract>The causes explaining the spread of malaria in the world include climatic changes, healthy service breakdown and migration. Due to the threat of this endemic disease in the Amazon region, this research aims at understanding the relationship between land use and land cover change process, induced by the construction of the Hydro-Electric Power Station of Tucuruí, and the spatial distribution of malaria incidence in the region. LANDSAT5 and RADARSAT images were used respectively for land use mapping and for monitoring the seasonal variation of UHE Tucuruí reservoir flooded area. A historic series of malaria data was also used. It was determined that Novo Repartimento and Tucuruí with large areas bounded by the reservoir are more prone to malaria incidence and that the time change of the disease in this region is related to the hydrology and reservoir operation, as well as with the precipitation and population dynamic.</abstract>
