abstract = "Vegetation indexes are products obtained from remotely sensed
images. Currently the vegetation indices EVI (Enhanced Vegetation
Index) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), both
products of the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Spectroradiometer) are
much used in time series analyses. The study of the relationship
between index of vegetation and climatic variables, such as
temperature and precipitation can help to understand the dynamics
between these factors and their answers. The aim of this study is
to verify the relationship between precipitation, temperature and
monthly vegetation index EVI data through cross-tabulation. The
study was carried out with EVI MODIS sensor data between January
2000 and December 2013. Precipitation and temperature data were
obtained through the website of the Worldclim. The grids of
precipitation, temperature, and EVI data were imported into the
software SPRING and classified. The monthly averaged EVI values,
ranked by classification, were related to monthly precipitation
and temperature through cross-tabulation. Most of the
precipitation and temperature values were best related to EVI
classes 0.3 and 0.5. Precipitation and temperature contributed to
the changes in EVI/MODIS values throughout the year in the State
of Rio Grande do Sul.",
