abstract = "This work proposes an approach to improve the composition (i.e.
mosaic) of images acquired from different geostationary
satellites. Specifically, the methodology uses an image processing
technique called histogram matching to process water vapor data
obtained from GOES-13 and Meteosat-10. Due to the characteristics
of each sensor, the measured brightness temperatures are different
and a preprocessing step is necessary in order to obtain more
consistent results. A set of images has been analyzed by applying
the histogram matching method and a lookup table was built. The
lookup table associates input brightness temperatures with
corrected output values and is used to transform one of the images
before the final composition. The results showed that the our
approach was able to improve the quality of compositions in
comparison to non-processed data.",
