ABSTRACT:
Analysis of the dynamics of the active vegetation fires in the
state of Par{\'a} from the meteorological point of view has shown
that the two main precipitation systems in Brazil - the
Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the South Atlantic
Convergence Zone (SACZ) - modulate its variability. These systems,
when absent and together with anthropogenic activities, contribute
significantly to the increased activity of fires. This state was
examined because it presented in absolute values the highest
number of records (19.3%) of active fires when compared with other
Brazilian states. These fires are most frequent in the second half
of the year with peak activity in August and September in the
southern part of the state. On average, in the second half of the
year, during the most critical months, the pixels show active
fires for about 12 days, while in the first half, only for 5
days.",
