             abstract = "Since air temperature is an important climate parameter, this work 
                         aimed to analyze the temperature (T) climatology over South 
                         America using two data sources: European Centre for Medium Range 
                         Weather Forecasts ECMWF and National Centers for Environmental 
                         Prediction NCEP for the 1958-1995 period. Differences, variations 
                         and dispersions were also analyzed for two sub-periods, 1958-1976 
                         (sub-period1) and 1977-1995 (sub-period2), and for El Niņo and La 
                         Niņa years. The two sub-periods were selected in order to analyze 
                         the T differences over South America in the two phases of The 
                         Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). The codes were developed in 
                         Fortran and the fields were visualized through the software 
                         GraDs.",
