abstract = "A Disserta{\c{c}}{\~a}o de Mestrado apresenta evid{\^e}ncias da
Lu{\'{\i}}s, no Maranh{\~a}o (2,33º S; 44,27º O), pr{\'o}ximo
utilizamos o mapa RTI \textit{(Range Time Intensity)} para
(EJT). Aplicando a an{\'a}lise de transformada de ondeleta {\`a}
s{\'e}rie temporal do EJC e EJT conseguimos ainda observar
foi poss{\'{\i}}vel observar algumas periodicidades
Estendendo esta an{\'a}lise
estudo estat{\'{\i}}stico relacionado {\`a} climatologia dos
destes estudos e an{\'a}lises realizadas com base nesta
metodologia, identificamos: (a) a condi{\c{c}}{\~a}o
(c) quais oscila{\c{c}}{\~o}es predominantes ocorrem
simultaneamente com eventos de CEJ. ABSTRACT: This Master Degree
Dissertation presents an evidence of correlation between the small
scale oscillations, like gravity waves, and the appearance of
counter equatorial electrojet (CEJ). To identify CEJ conditions we
have used speed data of type 2 irregularities observed by RESCO
radar, which is installed at S{\~a}o Lu{\'{\i}}s, Maranh{\~a}o
(2.33º S, 44.27° W), near the magnetic dip equator. Based on the
Doppler speed detection system of the RESCO radar we could observe
the plasma irregularities behavior regarding to their direction in
order to identify the Equatorial Electrojet (EEJ) behavior and its
inversions (CEJ events). This identification is made with the help
of spectrograms generated by RESCO. Additionally, we used the RTI
(Range Time Intensity) map in order to extract extra EEJ
parameters like the center of the EEJ backscattering region (EJC)
and the thickness of the EEJ backscattering region (EJT). Applying
Wavelet transform analysis to the EJT and EJC parameters time
series, we could also observe small-scale fluctuations in the
equatorial ionospheric region sounded by the RESCO. Using this
technique, we verified the presence of some predominant
frequencies at the same time of the CEJ occurrence and/or just
before the event. Extending this analysis to all selected cases,
we established a statistical study related to the climatology
whenever CEJ event occurs. Among the analyzed events, we selected
three cases for a detailed analysis. In these case studies, we
could clearly see that the appearance of small-scale waves and the
CEJ event can be related. Finally, we have developed a new
methodology for identifying CEJ associated with fluctuations in E
region, and from the studies and analysis and based on the present
methodology we could identify: (a) the more probable magnetic
condition to observe CEJ; (b) the time of the day and season more
probable to observe it; and (c) what the predominant oscillations
that occur at the same time of CEJ events are.",
