             abstract = "This paper presents the main results from the implementation of a 
                         simple precipitation assimilation scheme in the regional data 
                         assimilation system RPSAS/CPTEC. In this scheme an accomplished 
                         nudging rainfall is produced by the Eta model using rainfall rates 
                         from TRMM. To validate the results, were performed a case study of 
                         mesoscale convective system where it was found that the 
                         assimilation of precipitation was able to increase the quality of 
                         analysis produced by RPSAS through a positive increase in the 
                         first guesses (6 hours forecasts) fields. This scheme of the 
                         precipitation assimilation represents as a tool to contribute the 
                         improving of the quality of short-term forecasts and regional 
                         analysis produced by the center.",
