increase in computational resources in the last decades made
possible to simulate more realistically the behavior of the
atmosphere, more specifically, the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL),
where the turbulence is the main mechanism controlling its
dynamics. In the Brazilian Regional Atmospheric Modeling System
(BRAMS), three schemes of turbulence parameterizations are
available, one of them being based on Taylor\${'}\$s Theory, and
has been included to the BRAMS by (BARBOSA, 2007). In the present
work, an extra term is included in the Taylor\${'}\$s
parametrization. This term is the so called counter-gradient of
the Convective Boundary Layer (CBL), and accounts for the decrease
of the turbulence in the upper part of this layer. Firstly, the
results obtained by (BARBOSA, 2007) were reproduced. Observational
data from Wet season Atmospheric Mesoscale Campaign (WETAMC) of
the LBA project, along with analysis data from the European Center
for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), used as initial and
boundary conditions for the numerical simulations. The new
parameterization show satisfactory results when comparing with
observational datasets from ABRACOS and Rebiu Jaru stations.",
