abstract = "The paper presents a mathematical model for the dynamics of an
asteroid attached by a long tether to an inflatable balloon. The
model is then used to study the effect that the tether length and
the solar radiation pressure (acting on the balloon surface) exert
on the deflection of a larger Potentially Hazardous Asteroid
(PHA). As a starting point, the tether is inextensible and
massless and the motion is described only in the plane of the
orbit of the PHA around the Sun.",
