escala no sistema estudado. Os resultados, obtidos tanto para um
CubeSat como para um sat{\'e}lite de m{\'e}dio porte, o
Amazonia-1, evidenciaram o potencial e a adequa{\c{c}}{\~a}o do
uso de Redes Neurais para simular o comportamento t{\'e}rmico de
sat{\'e}lites em tempo real com elevada fidelidade, corroborando
a viabilidade da sua utiliza{\c{c}}{\~a}o como modelo

ABSTRACT: Artificial Satellite Operational Simulators are software
systems used primarily to support operating activities, train
operators, test the control system, and allow the assessment of
normal and adverse operational procedures prior to the execution
of these on the actual satellite. To achieve these requirements,
such simulators must run in real time, generating responses at the
same time and with the same content, as if they were the real
satellite in Earths orbit. Among the several models that compose
an Operational Simulator, the thermal model is one of those that
presents the higher computational cost, since the traditional
approach of thermal analysis requires the solution of a great
quantity of differential equations to determine the distribution
of temperatures inside the satellite in function of the space
environment and the state of operation of the equipment that
compose the satellite. In order to simulate the thermal behavior
of satellites in real time, generating real temperature values, it
was proposed the use of Artificial Neural Networks, due to its
ability to learn relationships between input and output data sets,
and to generalize from the acquired knowledge. Throughout the
research, the application of different architectures and neural
network training algorithms was investigated and the effects of
scale in the studied system were evaluated. The results, obtained
for both a CubeSat and a medium-sized satellite, the Amazonia-1,
showed the potential and adequacy of the use of Neural Networks to
simulate the thermal behavior of satellites in real time with high
fidelity, corroborating the feasibility of its use as a thermal
model for an Operational Satellite Simulator.",
