abstract = "For the development of complex systems, concurrent engineering
processes are being progressively used to integrate teams
responsible for different design disciplines. The volume of data
generated by simulation processes in the development of these
systems has grown increasingly, which generates problems such as
lack of data traceability and reuse, rework and increased project
costs. To deal with these problems, specialized systems for
simulation process and data management have been developed in
recent years. This work presents a literature review of current
environments related to simulation process and data management
developed by European institutions and the correspondent standards
from the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS).
Two of these environments, Remote Component Environment and
Virtual Satellite, developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR),
are analyzed in detail, as well as their applicability to
organizations which strongly use modeling and simulation and need
to manage data and simulation processes in space systems projects.
All that suggests that Simulation Process and Data Management
(SPDM) systems are increasingly useful and mandatory.",
