atua{\c{c}}{\~a}o do Anticiclone Subtropical do Atl{\^a}ntico
campo m{\'e}dio climatol{\'o}gico (CMC).
ABSTRACT: This
paper presented a synoptic classification in surface and at 500
hPa during the Brazilian rainy season (BRS), in order to identify
the main meteorological systems of synoptic scale that influence
the weather in this period. Through the rotated Principal
Components Analysis (PCA) for the 1979-2016 period, it was
identified six main surface synoptic patterns and four in 500 hPa,
which represented on average 85.0% and 90.0% of the total variance
respectively. The austral summer months presented greater synoptic
variability in relation to the months of November and March. The
combination of both levels showed four synoptic patterns that
predominated during the BRS. The two most frequent synoptic
patterns were associated with the behavior of the South Atlantic
Subtropical Anticyclone (SASA), one of them commonly associated
with the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) events and the
other with the climatological mean field (CMF). The other two
synoptic patterns were related to the presence of a cold front in
the South and Southeast Regions, respectively. In November and
March, these synoptic patterns explained greater variance than in
the austral summer, due to the increase of the baroclinicity.",
