tr{\^e}s n{\'{\i}}veis troposf{\'e}ricos durante as distintas
Nestas {\'u}ltimas
fase desfavor{\'a}vel, cujas altas subtropicais eram desordenadas
O cavado a leste
superf{\'{\i}}cie e juntamente com as altas subtropicais,
concentrou toda a umidade nesta camada.
desfavor{\'a}vel. Em baixos n{\'{\i}}veis, a principal
No ciclo
orienta{\c{c}}{\~a}o caracter{\'{\i}}stica (noroeste-sudeste),
ABSTRACT: This work verified the formation process of the South
Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) during the active, unfavorable
and transition phases of the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO), as
well as the diurnal spatial variability of the Outgoing Longwave
Radiation (OLR) data estimated for the phases of influence of this
intraseasonal variability. To relate the SACZ events to the phases
of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), the real-time multivariate
index (RMM) and the composite of meteorological variables were
used. The temporal average of the estimated OLR data was used for
each event and, thus, the diurnal spatial variability was
verified. In general, the different particularities in the
formation of SACZ were observed in the three tropospheric levels
during the different phases of the MJO. In all the different
patterns for the average of days of occurrence of SACZ (0D), a
classic behavior described in several studies was observed - well
organized and with the meteorological variables in phase along the
troposphere. However, some differences were evident for each phase
of the MJO, favoring the permanence of the convergence zone, such
as: at 250 hPa, the Bolivia High (BH) was flatter during the
active phase pattern than in the unfavorable and transition phase.
In these last phases, being wider and with a more undulating
trough embedded in the western flow; at medium levels, the
subtropical highs appeared more defined and with a very
comprehensive trough, extending to the north of Paran{\'a},
different from the unfavorable phase, whose subtropical highs were
disordered and with an elongated trough to the south of the same
state. The trough east of the Andes Mountains supports the frontal
systems on the surface and, together with the subtropical highs,
concentrates all the moisture in this layer. Furthermore, it
provides the SACZ with a specific moisture layer extending to the
Atlantic Ocean (AO), which was not noticed during the unfavorable
phase. At low levels, the main difference between the patterns
occurred in the wind flow, being more intense in the region of the
humidity channel in the unfavorable phase. The highlights in the
transition pattern are only verified at 500 and 850 hPa, in the
geopotential height and wind flow fields, respectively. The first
shows a trough that extends to the state of S{\~a}o Paulo and
with the South Pacific Subtropical High (SPSH) in the interior of
the continent, while at 850 hPa, the winds were directed towards
the humidity channel, but not as sharp as in the two other
fashions. In the diurnal cycle of OLR, it was observed the
formation of coastal squall lines (CSLs)s occurred during the SACZ
events in the active and transition phase of the MJO, pointed with
its characteristic orientation (northwest-southeast), parallel to
the coast and with a life cycle of 9 hours, while in the downtime
this system has not been verified. In the correlation of the
Amazon and Coastal SACZ regions, it was found that the
intraseasonal signal favored expressive values of precipitation in
the central part of Brazil in the active phase of MJO, while in
the unfavorable and transition phase, the most significant values
occurred in the Amazon region, as well as in the OLR data.",
