em altos n{\'{\i}}veis. ABSTRACT: This work analyzed and
determined the physical characteristics of 13 gigantic jets (GJs)
recorded on video in Brazil occurred between 2017 and 2021, the
physical characteristics of the associated convective systems and
the physical and electrical characteristics of the lightning that
generated the GJs. The physical characteristics of the GJs
(duration, morphology, top heights) and of the associated
convective systems (brightness temperature, expansion rate, life
cycle moment in which the GJs occurred), as well as of lightning
(relative location to the convective system) observed were similar
and consistent with previous studies conducted in different
regions of the planet. The regions of occurrence of all convective
systems associated with the GJs studied, except for one case, were
under the influence by anticyclones or ridges, both at 250 hPa and
500 hPa, either at the edges or at their centers or axes. At 850
hPa and on the surface, most of the cases presented the action of
troughs or low pressures, or wind confluence in the GJs occurrence
regions. The results indicate that this atmospheric configuration
may be an important factor in the formation of deep clouds and in
the occurrence of GJs. All analyzed GJs observations occurred
during the night period, due to the instruments limitations. The
absence of diurnal records of GJs does not allow us to affirm that
the morphology of GJs, depth of convective systems and the
atmospheric conditions in the troposphere and ionosphere favorable
to the occurrence of GJs can also be valid for the daytime period.
An observational characteristic systematically found in the
occurrences of the GJs studied was the presence of light to
                         moderate winds at high levels.",
