abstract = "A contribui{\c{c}}{\~a}o da convers{\~a}o fotovoltaica na
matriz energ{\'e}tica mundial vem aumentando significativamente e
consequentemente o interesse em estudos e desenvolvimentos acerca
desta tecnologia.
sat{\'e}lites do INPE. A tecnologia de c{\'e}lulas de
multijun{\c{c}}{\~a}o envolve segredos industriais e nem todos
os fabricantes fornecem as informa{\c{c}}{\~o}es detalhadas
Dispositivos Fotovoltaicos, GDFINPE, trabalha no desenvolvimento
compreens{\~a}o dessas tecnologias.
determinada c{\'e}lula.
Ele permite alterar as caracter{\'{\i}}sticas de
composi{\c{c}}{\~a}o do material semicondutor utilizado na
fabrica{\c{c}}{\~a}o da c{\'e}lula, bem como a temperatura de
opera{\c{c}}{\~a}o.
(I-V) gerada pelo programa {\'e} poss{\'{\i}}vel obter o fator
efici{\^e}ncia qu{\^a}ntica, efeito da profundidade da
antirrefletora. Assim, para as c{\'e}lulas de sil{\'{\i}}cio o
programa reproduziu as caracter{\'{\i}}sticas el{\'e}tricas e
programa PC1D.
ABSTRACT: The contribution of
photovoltaic conversion in the world energy matrix has been
increasing significantly and consequently the interest in studies
and developments of this technology. Most of the solar cells in
terrestrial use are made of silicon they are based on the
photovoltaic effect of a single semiconductor junction, but there
are special cells such as multi-junction ones, which are mainly
used in space applications, such as those used in INPE satellites.
Multi-junction cell technology involves trade secrets and not all
manufacturers provide detailed information about these devices
which is often needed for their application. The Photovoltaic
Devices Group, GDF-INPE, works on the development of
characterization methodology and studies to better understand
these technologies. This work had as its main objective the
development of a cell simulation program capable of generating the
main parameters of a solar cell from some basic data obtained in
the literature or provided by the manufacturer. The cells
parameters are obtained through the electrical and spectral
characterization of a given cell. The data generated by the
program makes it possible to study the performance of
single-crystal solar cells as a triple-junction made of
GaInP/GaInAs/Ge and silicon types without the need for field or
laboratory measurements, thus facilitating the work of engineers
and photovoltaic system designers. The program was coded based on
the theory of semiconductors interacting with light photons,
taking into account the characteristics of each semiconductor
material and junctions, the program was tested by comparing the
results obtained with other programs like PC1D and with
measurements in the laboratory. The code is based on a
onedimensional path of light photons. It allows changing the
composition characteristics of the semiconductor material used in
the manufacture of the cell and the operating temperature. From
the current and voltage curve generated by the program it is
possible to obtain the output parameters of the cell, these
parameters are the fill factor - FF, the maximum power point -
Pmp, the short circuit current - ISC, open-circuit voltage - VOC,
and conversion efficiency - \η. In addition to the output
parameters, one of the other features of the program is to
generate the spectral response of the cell. From the spectral
response curve, several useful data are obtained for the
characterization of a solar cell mainly for space application
cells, for example, quantum efficiency, junction depth effect,
carrier diffusion length, and effects on cell efficiency due to
the antireflective layer. Thus for the silicon cells the program
reproduced the electrical and spectral characteristics similarly
when compared to the experimental data obtained in the laboratory
and simulated by the PC1D program. For multijunction cells the
program showed a high degree of agreement with the cells tested,
around 3% of relative difference when efficiency values were
compared, when experimental data were used for temperatures
between 22șC and 70șC.",
