queima alteraram o estoque de carbono no Cerrado brasileiro, no
per{\'{\i}}odo compreendido entre os anos de 2002 e 2008.
Atrav{\'e}s de ferramentas de Geoprocessamento e Sensoriamento
Remoto, foram analisadas as rela{\c{c}}{\~o}es entre um conjunto
de vari{\'a}veis relacionadas ao clima, vegeta{\c{c}}{\~a}o,
altera{\c{c}}{\~o}es antr{\'o}picas e ocorr{\^e}ncia de fogo
na {\'a}rea em estudo, as quais determinaram a influ{\^e}ncia
dos processos de queima na retirada de biomassa da regi{\~a}o. As
queimas abrangeram cerca de 1.648.746 de hectares de {\'a}reas
desmatadas do Cerrado no per{\'{\i}}odo. Esse processo removeu
cerca de 266.751.627 toneladas de carbono, relativos {\`a}s
{\'a}reas de biomassa viva acima do solo e tamb{\'e}m {\`a}s de
biomassa abaixo do solo. As anomalias negativas verificadas das
chuvas em 2007 podem ter contribu{\'{\i}}do para as queimadas
nesse per{\'{\i}}odo, onde ocorreram as maiores
altera{\c{c}}{\~o}es na biomassa em {\'a}reas desmatadas e
queimadas. ABSTRACT: This study sought to understand how the
processes of burning altered the carbon stock in the Brazilian
Cerrado, in the period between 2002 and 2008. Using GIS and Remote
Sensing tools, analyzes of relationships between a set of
variables related to climate , vegetation, change due to
anthropogenic actions and fire occurrence in the study area were
performed, which determined the influence of burning processes on
removal of biomass in this region. The burns covered about
1.648.746 ha of the deforested areas in Cerrado in the study
period. This process removed about 266.751.627 tons of carbon,
relative to areas of above-ground live biomass and also to
below-ground biomass. The verified negative anomalies of rainfall
in 2007 may have contributed to the fires in this period, where
the largest changes occurred on biomass in deforested and burned
areas.",
