| Resumo | Remote sensing data were utilized to determine the spatial and temporal variability of the albedo and the leaf area index (IAF). The data were collected over the eastern region of Ceara close to city of Quixere. Five images of Landsat 5 with a high spatial resolution of 30m x 30m for the years of 2005 and 2006 were utilized for this purpose. The image processing was developed by using the software ERDAS (Surface Energy Balance Algoritmo for Land) 8.7. The albedo and the IAF were estimated from the spectral radiances obtained from the channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 of TM Landsat 5. Spatial distribution maps of the albedo and the IAF for the above region were prepared for the five days considered. The results showed significant differences in the spatial variability of the albedo for the days of 28th January and 24th August of 2006, due to the presence of the clouds and the growth of vegetation provoked by the rainfall occurred in the month of August. For the other selected days there was a very little spatial variability of the mentioned parameters. The values of the IAF varied between 1.2 and 2.4 in the research area located at the Fazenda Frutacor and its surroundings. However in July and August the values obtained were more than 3.6 in the northeast and southeast regions due to the increased rainfall in 2006. For the remaining days the values obtained indicated coherence between the albedo and the IAF. | |||
