| Abstract | This paperworks main goal is to analyze the usage distribution of the land use and its occupation, and how the different ways of usage are distributed in the area of permanent preservation in Boa Vista das Missões, RS. This study had utilized Geographic Information System (GIS) together with Geoprocessing and remote sensing to obtain thematic maps showing soil the covering and the permanent area preservation, and a GPS receptor (Global Positioning System) to estimate the result accuracy related to the classification process of the orbital images which were obtained in field campaigns. The elaboration of this study intends to assist the municipality on the environmental planning to obtain a better usage of the soil for the agriculture, urban settlement, soil conservation, and water resources, aiming to supply important subsidies to enable the option for the best method to exploit the local natural resources. |
