AbstractThis paper presents a study on the accuracy of thermocouple temperature measurements in a cylindrical combustor. A conservative procedute to compute maximum radiation errors is described. The study shows that radiation errors not only depend on the size and emissivity of the probe and on its location relative to the combustion zone, but aldo on the mass flow rate of the gases in which the probe is immersed. Results for a particular case are presented in graphical form as function of different parameters that influence radiation errors.
