| Abstract | The thermodynamic expression for the Gibb's free energy in the presence of paramagnetic effects has been used to obtain a new upper limit for the upper critical magnetic field of a type II superconductor. A simple modeling of the superconducting magnetization curve provides a better expression for the upper critical magnetic field compared to earlier expressions due to Maki and Rieck et al. |
