AbstractMeansninful seasonal predictions are those that provide reliable information about the climate and reflect all the relevant influences. Ongoing local , regional, national and international efforts are working toward the goal of providing skilful forecast information ov value to decision makers. Three primary research areas necessary for obtaining improvements in seasonal prediction over the Americas are (1) model improvement, (2) multi-model recalibration and conbinations, and (3) incorporation of relevant forcings (e.g. aerosols) and /or physical processes that are currently absent in teh prediction models.
