AbstractAn electromagnetic puff valve for gas injection was built and characterized. This type of gas injection has been routinely applied to various plasma experiments: in magnetic plasma confinement devices as Tokamak, RFP, and Compact Toroids as well as in intense ion beam and neutral particle generators. The valve is capable of injecting gas pulse with up to 80mTorr peak pressure, rise time < 400us and duration time of 40ms, in the present experimental set-up. It is easy to build and its components can be totally acquired in the country.
