| Abstract | São apresentados mapas sazonais das anomalias de temperatura do ar (T) sobre a América do Sul para anos de ocorrência de extremos do ENOS - El Niño/Oscilação Sul, (El Niño - EN e La Niña - LN) do período de 1958 a 1995. Análises são feitas usando duas fontes de dados reanalisados, uma originária do European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts - ECMWF e outra do National Centers for Environmental Prediction - NCEP, objetivando investigar as diferenças entre estes conjuntos de dados. Este trabalho almeja também analisar a variabilidade interanual de T na América do Sul. Os campos de anomalias de T das duas fontes de dados mostram padrões consistentes para anos de EN e de LN. Para as duas fontes de dados das estações de verão, outono e primavera de anos de EN, em geral predominam anomalias positivas de T na maior parte do continente exceto no centro-sul onde ocorrem anomalias de sinal contrário. Na primavera de anos de EN, anomalias negativas de T estendem sobre uma grande parte da América do Sul para as duas fontes de dados. Para as duas fontes de dados, os mapas de anos de LN mostram anomalias negativas de T na maior parte, exceto no sul do continente. ABSTRACT: There are presented seasonal maps of air temperature (T) anomalies over South América for the years of the El Niño/Southern Oscillation extremes (El Niño - EN and La Niña - LN) of the 1958-1995 period. Analyses are done using two reanalyzed data sources the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts - ECMWF and the National Centers for Environmental Prediction - NCEP, aiming to investigate the differences between the two datasets. The present paper aims also to analyze the interannual variability of T over South America. The T anomaly fields for the two datasets show consistent patterns for EN and LN years. For both datasets, during the summer, autumn and winter seasons of the EN years, in general, positive T anomalies prevail in most of the continent, except in the central-southern, where opposite sign anomalies occur. During spring of EN years, negative T anomalies extend over a large portion of South America for both datasets. For both datasets, the LN maps show negative T anomalies in most part, except in the southern. |
