| Abstract | RESUMO: A Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana (LTA) é uma doença que pode ser contraída por qualquer pessoa, desde que exposta a lugares com mosquitos infectados. As atuais mudanças sócio-ambientais podem contribuir para a proliferação da população de insetos tanto na área rural quanto na área urbana. A fim de melhor compreender a influência destas mudanças na dinâmica da doença, se analisou a dinâmica de casos notificados entre 1998 a 2006 no município de Ubatuba, região de forte atração turística. Foram utilizadas técnicas de geoprocessamento e os dados de precipitação por satélite e imagens Landsat. Do ponto de vista ambiental, essa região é bastante preservada tendo ainda vastas extensões de Mata Atlântica. Os números de casos cresceram a partir de 2002, tendo um pico em 2003, que foi um ano mais seco, com chuvas concentradas apenas nos primeiros meses do verão. Essas primeiras análises mostram a influência do uso do solo e sugerem que outros fatores climáticos devem ser observados mais detalhadamente para melhor compreensão da dinâmica da LTA. ABSTRACT: The American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL) can be contracted when a person is bitten by an infected mosquito. The current social and environmental changes can contribute in such a way for the proliferation of infected insects not only in agricultural area but also in urban area. In order to understand the influence of these changes in the dynamics of the illness, an analyses of cases registered between 1998 and 2006 in Ubatuba city, region of touristic place, was carried out. The analyses made use of geoprocessing techniques and rainfall estimations assessed from meteorological satellites and Landsat images. From the environmental point of view, this region is well preserved and present large areas covered by tropical forests. The numbers of cases increased from 2002, reaching the peak in 2003. This year was characterized to be a driest year of the study period. The raining season in 2003 occurred only in the first months of the summer. These preliminary analyses shows the influence of land use and suggest that other climatic factors should be observed in more detail to better understand the dynamics of the ACL. |
