| Abstract | Neste trabalho apresenta-se uma análise do ciclo de energia de um episódio de Zona de Convergência do Atlântico Sul (ZCAS), ocorrido entre os dias 14 e 17 de março de 2008, baseada na metodologia de energética de área limitada (EAL). O estudo foi realizado utilizando-se as análises do National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) para as resoluções T062L28, T126L28, T213L42 e T319L64. O objetivo é avaliar a distribuição temporal das energias cinética e potencial disponível, bem como dos termos de conversão de energia, visando identificar possíveis características e mecanismos que atuam na formação, manutenção e dissipação da ZCAS. Os resultados indicam um máximo de energia cinética e potencial disponível zonal, respectivamente, 18 e 42 horas após a formação da ZCAS, o que está associado à um aumento da conversão Cz e do termo de conversão barotrópica Ck. O termo de conversão baroclínica Ce apresenta um pico durante a configuração da ZCAS, que deve estar relacionado, em parte, à onda subtropical que contribui para o estabelecimento da ZCAS. De um modo geral, os resultados preliminares não indicaram impactos significativos da utilização de análises com diferentes resoluções horizontais e verticais. ABSTRACT: In this work is presented an analysis of the energy cycle of a South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) event occurred between 14th and 17th March 2008 based on the limited area energetics (LAE). The study was performed using the observational analysis from National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) for the resolutions T062L28, T126L28, T213L42, and T319L64. The aim of this work is to assess the temporal distribution of the kinetic and available potential energy and the energy transformations terms in order to identify possible characteristics and mechanisms that act in the formation, maintenance and dissipation of the (SACZ). The results indicate a maximum of zonal kinetic energy and zonal available potential energy respectively 18 and 42 hours after the SACZ formation. This is associated to the increase of conversion Cz and the barotropic conversion term Ck. The baroclinic conversion term Ce presents a maximum during the SACZ configuration, what should be related in parts to the subtropical wave which contributes for the SACZ formation. Overall, these preliminary results do not indicate significant impacts of using analyses with different horizontal and vertical resolutions. |
