| Abstract | A Região Sudeste, devido à sua localização latitudinal, caracteriza-se por ser uma área territorial de transição entre os climas quentes e úmidos dos trópicos e o clima mesotérmico do tipo temperado de latitudes médias. Neste estudo foi realizada uma análise da climatologia e da variabilidade interanual da precipitação sobre parte da Região Sudeste do Brasil, bem como uma análise da configuração atmosférica associada ao mês mais chuvoso de toda a série. Os resultados mostraram que as estações do ano estão apresentando uma freqüência maior de precipitações extremas, ou seja, maior freqüência de invernos e outonos mais secos e maior freqüência de verões e primaveras mais chuvosos. As configurações atmosféricas para o mês mais chuvoso apresentaram uma contribuição do escoamento em baixos níveis vindo do Atlântico e da Amazônia até a área de estudo, além da ação de sistemas frontais e da ZCAS, bem como condições propícias em altos níveis para desenvolvimento de convecção e precipitação na área de estudo. Due to the latitudinal location, the Southeast Region of Brazil is characterized by a transition region between the tropics and the middle latitudes climate. A climatology and interannual variability analysis of precipitation, as well as the atmospheric characteristics of the rainiest month over part of Southeast Region of Brazil, which comprises the Serra do Mar region were studied. The results indicated that the frequency of wet springs and summers have increased and the frequency of dry autumns and winters also increased with time during the analyzed period. The atmospheric characteristics of the rainiest month showed a contribution of the low level flow from the Atlantic Ocean and Amazonia to the area, the influence of frontal systems and ZCAS, as well as high levels conditions to convection development and precipitation over the area.. |
