| Abstract | O sul do Brasil é constantemente afetado por ciclones extratropicais. Tais sistemas geralmente estão associados a forte atividade convectiv e ventos intensos próximos à superfície. O desenvolvimento de índices que possam alertar com antecedência a possibilidade de ocorrência de eventos severos pode ser muito valioso, no intuito de atenuar seus impactos. O objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar uma aplicação do Índice de Previsão de Extremos (EFI), que é baseado em previsões de tempo por conjunto, para um evento de ciclone extratropical no Atlântico Sul. ABSTRACT: The south of Brazil constantly is affected by extratropicl cyclones. Such systems generally are associated with strong winds and intense convective activity close to the suface. The development of indices that can warn in advance the possibility of occurrence of severe events can be vey valuable, in intention to attenuate its impacts. The objective of this work is to show an application of the Extreme Forecast Index (EFI), that it is based on ensemble weather forecasts, for a extratropical cyclone event in the South Atlantic. |
