| Abstract | Os episódios de bloqueios caracterizam-se pela presença de anticiclones persistentes (alta de bloqueio) que induzem grandes deslocamentos de sistemas transientes, em escala sinótica, tais como as frentes frias, ciclones, etc. A presença de um bloqueio sobre uma determinada região é importante, pois pode causar aspectos climáticos adversos nas zonas adjacentes à região do anticiclone de bloqueio, causando anomalias de temperatura e precipitação acima e/ou abaixo da normal climatológica. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o impacto dos bloqueios atmosféricos ocorridos em janeiro de 2008 nas temperaturas e na precipitação sobre a América do Sul. Fazendo uma comparação com os bloqueios ocorridos sobre o Atlântico, para os meses de verão entre 1960 e 2000 (Damião 2007 et al. 2008), foi possível verificar que os bloqueios tievram um comportamento semelhante. O escoamento anticiclônico associado à alta de bloqueio se estendeu dos altos aos baixos níveis da atmosfera, sugerindo assim um padrão barotrópico equivalente. A presença da alta de bloqueio, próximo à costa sul/sudeste do Brasil, favoreceu a queda das temperaturas e o aumento da nebulosidade. ABSTRACT: Blocking episodes are characterized by the presence of persistent anticyclones (blocking high) that induce large displacements of transient system of synoptic scale, such as cold fronts, cyclones, etc. The presence of a blocking on a particular region is important because it can cause adverse climate aspects in adjacent areas of the blocking anticyclone region, causing anomalies of temperature and precipitation above and / or below the normal climatology. the objetive of this study is to analyze the impact of atmospheric blocking episodes that occurred over South Atlantic in January 2008 on temperature and precipitation over South America. The results were similar to those obtained by Damião (2007) and Damião et al. (2008), in analyses of the summer months between 1960 and 2000. The anticyclonic flow associated with the blocking high extended from the high to the low levels of the atmosphere thus suggesting a barotropic equivalent pattern. The presence of the blocking high, near the south / southeartern coast of Brazil, favored the temperature drop and increasing cloudiness.. |
