AbstractThe knowledge of convective system evolution is of fundamental importance for understanding weather and climate, particularly in the tropics, and it is essential to improve forecasting of these systems to reduce vulnerability to extreme weather damage. The identification of predictor parameters of the evolution of convective system, based on its previous evolution, could give valuable contribution to nowcasting schemes. The HydroTrack (Hydroestimator Tracking and Nowcaster) is a nowcasting method, using GOES channel 4 images, based on the ForTraCC (Forecasting and Tracking of Cloud Cluster) and the Hydroestimator. The objective of this work is to present the HydroTrack and to discuss different methodologies to estimate the precipitation trajectory. Several methods were used to obtain the precipitation trajectories. The results describe the statistical analysis performed between the real trajectories and estimated by the different methodologies.
