| Abstract | Neste estudo foi avaliado simulações numéricas do modelo ETA WorkStation (ETAWS) e do modelo ETA Operacional (ETAOP) do Centro de Previsão de Tempo e Estudos Climáticos (CPTEC) para as condições atmosféricas de um tornado ocorrido na cidade de Piracicaba no dia 26 de Março de 2006. Foram analisadas também imagens de satélite, radar e dados de vento registrados por uma estação de superficie no mesmo dia, com a finalidade de confirmação da ocorrência do fenômeno. Os resultados das simulações do campo de escoamanto em 850 hPa mostraram-se diferentes para os dois modelos, o ETAOP mostrou um cavado bem definido, com confluência de ventos de noroeste no lado leste do cavado, enquanto o ETAWS apresentou ventos predominantes de sudeste, não apresentando um cavado. Esta diferença do campo de escoamento entre os dois modelos deve-se as diferentes condições iniciais utilizadas. Já as imagens de satélite mostraram para este dia a passagem de uma frente fria pela região sudeste do Brasil e presença de aglomerados convectivos, o que possivelmente pode ter gerado grande instabilidade termodinâmica principalmente sobre a região. As imagens de radar mostraram grande nebulosidade convectiva para este dia com valores máximos de 55 DBz e os ventos registrados em superfície chegaram a 158 km/h. In this study are evaluated numerical simulations of the models Eta Workstation (ETAWS) and Eta Operational (ETAOP) from the Center for Weather Forecast and Climate Studies (CPTEC) for the atmospheric conditions of a whirlwind occurred in Piracicaba city in 26 March 2006. Satellite images, radar reflectivity fields and wind data recorded by a surface station were used to confirm the phenomenon occurrence. The streamlines fields in 850 hPa were different for the two models, the ETAOP presented a well defined trough, with confluence of northwest winds in the east side of the trough, while the ETAWS presented prevailing southeast winds, without the trough. These differences are due to the different initial conditions used. In the satellite images was possible to see the passage of a cold front and the presence of convective clusters in the Brazil Southeastern region, which could have create strong thermodynamics instability. The radar reflectivity fields showed large convective nebulosity for this day with maximum values of 55 dBz and the winds recorded in the surface station reached 158 km/h. :. |
