AbstractNeste trabalho é apresentado um pacote diagnóstico para modelos numéricos de previsão de tempo e clima. Esta ferramenta dirigida às ciências atmosféricas foi desenvolvida, seguindo regras para a codificação e padronização do software (Fortran90), para ser empregada pelos grupos de modelagem operacional e de pesquisa do CPTEC/INPE. Uma comparação entre os resultados produzidos pelo pacote e outros é mostrada. A comunidade científica será beneficiada já que a ferramenta poderá ser disponibilizada e empregada para a realização de mais estudos diagnósticos que apontem principalmente os pontos positivos e negativos dos modelos, que fornecerá apoio à pesquisa em previsão de tempo e clima. ABSTRACT: In this paper is presented a diagnostic package for numerical weather and climate models. This tool for atmospheric sciences was developed at CPTEC/INPE following rules for the codification and standardization of software (Fortran90) will be used by groups of modeling and operational research. A comparison between the results produced by the package and others is shown. The tool will be available to scientific community and may be used for carrying out more diagnostic studies pointing mainly the positive and negative points of the models, which will provide support to research in weather and climate prediction.
