| Abstract | Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a variabilidade da precipitação sazonal e anual para a cidade de Porto Alegre (POA), associada às fases da Oscilação Decadal do Pacífico (ODP), utilizando dados mensais da estação meteorológica do INMET/8°DISME. Os ciclos da ODP correspondem às três fases ocorridas no século passado: fases quentes (1925-1946 e 1977-1998) e fase fria (1947-1976). Dois métodos de análise foram utilizados: no primeiro os dados foram normalizados (P) e verificada a correspondência entre P ± 1σ com as fases quentes e fria da ODP, respectivamente; no segundo foram calculadas as médias para cada fase da ODP, comparando esses valores à média de 91 anos (1916-2006). Os resultados apontam que, nas fases quentes da ODP, a maior parte da precipitação anual observada esteve em dentro e acima de 1σ (91%), enquanto a fase fria apresentou comportamento oposto, com 93% em dentro e abaixo de 1σ. A análise sazonal mostra que no outono (MAM), inverno (JJA) e primavera (SON) também foi verificado o mesmo comportamento. Sendo assim, a ODP pode explicar, em parte, a variabilidade da precipitação observada na cidade de POA. ABSTRACT: This work assesses the seasonal and annual variability of rainfall in the city of Porto Alegre (POA), associated with phases of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (ODP), using monthly data from the meteorological station of INMET/8°DISME. The ODP cycles correspond to three phases that occurred in the past century: warm phases (1925-1946 and 1977-1998) and cold phase (1947-1976). Two methods of analysis were used: on the first, data were normalized (P) and checked the correspondence between P ± 1σ with the warm and cold phases of the ODP, respectively; in the second, the averages were calculated for each phase of the ODP, comparing these values the average of 91 years (1916-2006). The results show that during the warm phases of the ODP, most of the observed annual rainfall was around and above the 1σ (91%), while the cold phase presented the opposite, with 93% around and below the 1σ. The seasonal analysis shows that in autumn (MAM), winter (JJA) and spring (SON) was also found the same behavior. Thus, the ODP can partially explain the variability of rainfall observed in the city of POA.. |
