| Abstract | O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar características sinóticas de um evento de tempo severo, observado no Estado do Rio de Janeiro em 6 de dezembro de 2007, aplicando-se uma ferramenta objetiva utilizada para o reconhecimento de situações extremas relevantes. Esta ferramenta, derivada de modelos numéricos de previsão de tempo, fundamenta-se na combinação de diferentes variáveis meteorológicas e diferentes índices de instabilidade atmosférica, utilizados para determinar áreas com potencial para a ocorrência de tempo severo. A importância deste caso se justifica no possível impacto que um evento desta natureza pode provocar na sociedade, principalmente quando ocorre sobre uma grande metrópole brasileira densamente povoada. Os resultados mostram que a ferramenta objetiva pôde identificar o padrão sinótico e a condição atmosférica favorável para ocorrência de tal evento. Observou-se convecção profunda em uma área discriminada por esta ferramenta, provocada principalmente pelas elevadas temperaturas em superfície e pela aproximação de um sistema frontal pelo oceano. ABSTRACT: The objective of this work is to analyse the synoptic characteristic of a severe weather event, observed in Rio de Janeiro State in 6 December 2007, applying an objective tool used to recognize relevant extremes situations. This tool, derived from numerical models of weather forecasting, is established in the combination of different meteorological variables and different atmospheric instability index, used to determine areas with potential to occurrence of severe weather. The importance of this case is justified in the possible impact that an event of this nature can provoke in the society, principally when it happens on a large Brazilian metropolis density populate. The results show that the objective tool can identify the synoptic pattern and the atmospheric condition favorable to the occurrence of the event. Deep convection was observed in the area discriminated by this tool, caused principally by high temperatures in surface and the approximation of frontal system through the ocean. |
