ABSTRACT. Model GL for solar irradiance estimate can be applied equally well to VIS channels of GOES Imager and SEVIRI-MSG2. The model was applied to both sensors for images describing Northeastern Brazil. Preliminary results show strong correspondence between both applications (average deviations not higher than 25 W.m-2 for daily mean value in cloudy day), allowing for use of the same model and both satellites in order to extend radiation estimates from America to Africa.
