| Abstract | A variabilidade da Sub-corrente Equatorial (SCE) Atlântica em 0o N, 23o W, revelada por dados do ADCP do projeto PIRATA é comparada a resultados de um modelo oceânico forçado por diferentes produtos de tensões do vento. De uma maneira geral, o modelo é capaz de simular a variabilidade sazonal da SCE, mostrando também que existe uma dependência entre o posicionamento vertical do núcleo da SCE e a intensidade do vento na área tropical do Atlântico. A variabilidade intrasazonal da Subcorrente média na vertical também é investigada, mostrando que o modelo é sensível a variações de alta freqüência no campo de ventos. ABSTRACT: The variability of the Equatorial Undercurrent at 0o N, 23o W, as revealed by a PIRATA ADCP data, is compared with results from an ocean model forced by different wind stress products. In general, the model is able to simulate the seasonal variability of the undercurrent, also showing that there is a dependency between the vertical positioning of the undercurrent core and the wind stress magnitude in the Atlantic Tropical area. The intraseasonal variability of the depth averaged undercurrent is also investigated, showing that the model is sensitive to high frequency variations in the wind fields.. |
