AbstractThe Project NANOSATC-BR CubeSat Development consists the Brazilian, National Institute for Space Research and Federal University of Santa Maria, INPE-UFSM, Capacity Building program on space, engineering and computing sciences through a CubeSat program. The NANOSATC-BR1 nanosatellite is planned to be launch in a polar orbit inclined about 98° with respect to the Earths equatorial plane, at an approximate altitude of 650 km, with both objectives: to monitor the Geomagnetic field and its effects over the Brazilian territory, especially over the region knows as the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA), using an off-the-shelf magnetic field sensor; and to capacity a new generation of scientists, engineers and researches, providing hands-on training and learning with aerospace technologies and Space Weather issues. In order to accomplish these aims, two 1U-CubeSat platforms: a Flight Model (FM) and an Engineering Model (EM); and a Small Satellite Ground Station, equipped with VHF/UHF band and S-band antennas, which will be installed in Santa Maria, South of Brazil, on the building of the Southern Regional Space Research Center, CRS/CCR/INPEMCT, INPEs sub-unit, have been purchased from the Dutch ISIS Company. With the delivery of the models and Ground Station in July 2011 and launch planned for later 2012, at the present moment, documentations, tests plans and specifications are under development. Undergraduate and Graduate students from UFSM, and Master and Doctored students from INPE are involved in different areas of the Project, covering mechanical analysis, test and integration documentations, even developments for new equipment, interfaces and software to be applied in the NANOSATC-BR1 mission. As a result, the NANOSATC-BR Project has been providing, to the Brazilian INPE-UFSM institutions, the development of CubeSats technologies, space knowledge, integration and tests procedures.
