| Abstract | Esta dissertação de mestrado apresenta os resultados dos estudos do comportamento dos parâmetros de frequência da camada Es da ionosfera equatorial durante os períodos perturbados do ciclo solar 23 (1998-2006). Foi conduzida uma investigação, nos dias anteriores, durante e posteriores a tempestades magnéticas, sobre a evolução temporal dos parâmetros de frequências de topo (\textit{ft}Es) e de bloqueio (\textit{fb}Es) da camada Es medidos por digissonda da região de São Luís-MA, os quais foram correlacionados com os dados de Raios-X medidos em sensor a bordo do satélite GOES. Os resultados possibilitaram realizar um estudo climatológico e mostraram características relevantes. No parâmetro \textit{ft}Es observou-se uma redução na frequência em relação ao seu comportamento característico observado neste trabalho. Na maioria dos casos, esta redução se deu na fase de recuperação da tempestade magnética. No parâmetro \textit{fb}Es foram observados picos que sobrepuseram o seu perfil ambiente. Uma tentativa de associação entre a ocorrência destes picos e intensificações no fluxo de Raios-X causados por flares solares foi realizada. Contudo, as absorções das ondas de rádio sondagem na região D ionosférica prejudicaram as observações da camada Es e limitaram o estudo pretendido. Além destes estudos climatológicos, uma análise mais criteriosa envolvendo dois eventos de tempestades magnéticas intensas, tomados como exemplo, foi conduzida para averiguar os efeitos na dinâmica no eletrojato equatorial. Nestes casos específicos, picos do parâmetro \textit{fb}Es ocorreram na fase de recuperação das tempestades magnéticas durante eventos de contra-eletrojato. ABSTRACT: This dissertation presents some results about the studies of the frequency parameters associated with Es-layer in the equatorial ionosphere during disturbed periods throughout the solar cycle 23 (1998-2006). It was carried an investigation out, covering the days before, during and subsequent to magnetic storms, on the time evolution of the top frequency (\textit{ft}Es) and blanketing frequency (\textit{fb}Es) of the Es layer as measured by digital ionosonde over São Luís-MA, which were correlated with X-rays data measured by sensors on board the GOES satellite. The results lead to a climatological study and revealed interesting features. The \textit{ft}Es presented a reduction in its frequency, compared to its typical behavior characterized in the study. In most cases, this frequency reduction occurred during the recovery phase of magnetic storm. Regarding the \textit{fb}Es parameter, it was observed peaks that overlapped the ambient background values. A tentative analysis was performed in order to associate the occurrence of these \textit{fb}Es peaks with X-ray flux intensification due to solar flares. However, the ionospheric absorption of the sounding radiowaves at the D region jeopardized Es layer observation, and limited the intended study. Besides this climatological analysis, a careful analysis of two events involving intense magnetic storms, taken as examples, was carried out to investigate the effects on the dynamics of the equatorial electrojet. In these specific cases, peaks in the parameter \textit{fb}Es were identified during the recovery phase of magnetic storm and under counter-electrojet conditions. | ||||||||||||
