Abstract | The gravitational capture can be used to minimize fuel consumption in transfer orbits missions. The main studies of the gravitational capture uses only the circular model, that is, with zero eccentricity. In this work, the effects of the eccentricity and the pericenter position are studied. The results show that when the minor primary is at the periapsis (y = 0 degree)the savings are best. Also, as the eccentricity is enhanced, this effect is amplified. With these results is possible to set some problems to take advantages of the mechanism. Two examples are shown. |
