AbstractO objetivo deste trabalho é o estudo e a implementação prática de um estimador de probabilidade de erro para monitoração de enlaces digitais de telemetria de satélites. O estimador baseia-se na contagem de pseudo-erros obtidos através de modificações no limiar de decisão do receptor. Este método é interessante para a aplicação visada pois não requer o conhecimento prévio das mensagens transmitidas, e a estimação pode ser feita durante a operação normal do sistema. Ademais, o tempo de medida é bem inferior ao necessário para a contagem direta de erros (Monte-Carlo) com a mesma precisão. ABSTRACT: This work presents the project and theoretical aspects related to a bit error rate estimator for digital telemetry satellite links. The estimation is based on pseudo-error counts obtained from the transmitted signals with modified decision thresholds. This method is attractive for the above application because previous knowledge of the transmitted information is not required, and the estimation may be performed on-line. Furthermore, the time required for the estimation is much smal ler than the time needed for direct error counting (Monte-Carlo) with the same precision.
