| Abstract | Nas últimas duas décadas, a Amazônia brasileira tem apresentado importantes mudanças na dinâmica de uso e cobertura da terra devido a atividades humanas, apresentando uma taxa atual de desfiorestarnento da ordem de 25.000 km~lano. 0 nionitoramento ambiental desta vasta região requer de técnicas que permitam a detecção de mudanças em curtos períodos de tempo, dando desta maneira um maior peso à resolução temporal do que a resolução espacial. 0 objetivo deste trabalho é analisar urna série de dados MODIS (Moderate Resolution Inwgíng Spectroradiometer) de índices de vegetação através de análise harmônica, com o intuito de conhecer o potencial deste tipo de análise em estudos de monitoramento ambiental. Foram analisadas imagens quinzenais dos índices de vegetação EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index) e NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), correspondentes ao período de janeiro de 2001 a dezembro de 2003. 0 algorítmo para a análise barmônica foi irriplementado em IDI, (Interactive Data Language). Os resultados mostraram que as imagens do EVI apresentaram um bom desempenho comparado ao das imagens do NDVI. A análise harmônica inostrou-se corno uma ferramenta útil e de fácil interpretação para analisar séries temporais de dados e indicar mudanças na paisagem. É recomendada a utilização de mais de um harmônico de maneira de detectar as variabilidades que acontecem em períodos menores a seis meses. --> ABSTRACT: In the last two decades, the Brazilian Amazon has suffered important changes of land cover/land use dynamics in response to human action, sunimarized by a gross deforestation rate of 25,000 kin2/ycar. Uie environinental monitoring of this region need tecliniques that allow the detection of changes occurred in short periods. Therefore it is reconunended to reduce the temporal resolution instead of the spatial resolution. The objective of this paper is to assess the application of han-nonic analysis to a MODIS (Moderaté Resolution Imaging Spectroradiorneter) vegetatíon index time séries for environinental monitoring. EVI and NDVI images from January 2001 to December 2003 were used in this analysis. The harmonic analysis algoritfim was implernented in lDL (Interactive Data Language). The results showed that EVI product presented good results in relation to NDVI. The harmonic anfflysis proved to be a very useful tool for time séries analyses. li is recommended the use of more than one harmonic since the time frequencies present in the séries may vary within a given study area as functíon of the land use dynaniic. In those circunistances the first harmonic is not enough for detecting variabilities that oceur in periods shorter than six month. |
